Born in Los Angeles, Jessica Chrysler grew up alternately in the city, and in the low deserts of Arizona. An avid reader, devouring everything from The Stinky Cheese Man to the Encyclopedia Britannica, she developed an appreciation for literature and illustration at an early age. Animation, musicals and trips to the museum both inspired and influenced her to create stories and art of her own. Her work has a brilliant color palette that captures gestures of characters with a distinct linear stylization. Her favorite medium, acrylic on canvas, also lends a textural quality reminiscent of quilting, a craft she readily admires. Her designs are crisp and well informed, while keeping an element of playfulness. She obtained a BFA in Illustration at Otis College of Art and Design, and is an active member of the SCBWI.
